Bindook Cottage has two rooms within the centre

The Mulligrub room caters for children aged 1-3 years and the Bunyip room caters for children aged 3-5 years.

The Mulligrub Room:

The Mulligrub room provides activities to promote exploration and essential learning. Educators observe the children performing tasks and tailor the program to meet the individual needs and interests of each child. Then by assisting, encouraging and modelling educators can prevent a lot of the frustration young children experience in their effort to learn. Activities include painting, pasting, drawing, role-play, building, dancing, tactile exploration, stories, singing, physical experiences, nutrition awareness, music and movement. Planned and spontaneous experiences promote the development of each child. The Mulligrub room is where friendships begin to develop along with their social, emotional, language, cognitive and creative skills.

The Bunyip Room:

The Bunyip room extends the learning which has started in the Mulligrub room and also consists of a full pre-school program within long day care hours. It is our intent to assist in the overall development of each and every child. It is also our intent to prepare children for the transition to school from the centre. The curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework to ensure the children meet learning outcomes as they grow and develop. The program fosters the development of literacy skills, numeracy skills, creative skills, cognitive skills as well as social and emotional skills. The Bunyip room allows children to establish friendships through social interactions and supportive role modelling. The children are able to learn to play cooperatively and collaboratively with their peers in a safe home-like environment.
